Conservancy Awarded USFWS Grant
March 7, 2016
We just received news that the Conservancy was awarded a two-year grant in the amount of $67,334 from the US Fish & Wildlife Service through its North American Wetlands Conservation Act Small Grants Program. The grant will support our ongoing efforts to improve habitat for the Golden-winged Warbler in Sterling Forest and Harriman State Parks and will reinforce efforts already underway through the support of another recent grant from the Sarah K. de Coizart Trust. Specifically, this grant will allow us to restore 30 acres of known Golden-winged Warbler habitat by removing invasive species and allowing for regrowth of native species that are crucial not only to the warbler but also to many other wetland-dependent species.
